7.2 Product Groups
Manufacturers may be certified in up to three (3) Product Group classifications: All of the products listed below may not be included in routine plant audits.

7.2.1
Group A, Architectural Products: This Group includes products that are decorative and establish the aesthetic character of a structure. These products are produced in accordance with the requirements of CSA Standard A23.4. This Group does not include structural products that also exhibit a high degree of finish or texture including unique colouration. Such products are appropriately included in Product Groups B & C.

Product Group A is divided into two categories:

• AT, Architectural Trim Units: Non-prestressed products with a high standard of finish quality and of relatively small size that can be installed with equipment of limited capacity. Products include sills, lintels, coping, cornices, quoins, medallions, bollards, benches, planters, and pavers. This category also includes specialty products specifically designed for a project but not commodity or ornamental units produced for wholesale or retail purposes.
• A1, Architectural Cladding and Load Bearing Units: Precast concrete building elements such as exterior cladding, load bearing and non-load bearing wall panels, spandrels, beams, mullions, columns, column covers, and other miscellaneous shapes. Elements may be conventionally reinforced and/or pretensioned or post-tensioned. This category includes category AT.

7.2.2
Group B, Bridge Products and Group BA, Bridge Products with Architectural Finishes: Both Group B and Group BA products are produced in accordance with the standard requirements of CSA Standard A23.4 and any federal, provincial or local government agency specifications that apply. Group BA products are produced with the additional requirements for Architectural Finishes

Product Group B is divided into four categories:

• B1, Precast Concrete Bridge Products: Conventionally reinforced precast concrete elements include some types of bridge beams or slabs, piling, sheet piling, pile caps, retaining wall elements, median barriers, parapet walls, sound barriers and box culverts.
• B2, Prestressed Miscellaneous Bridge Products: Any precast concrete and pretensioned or post-tensioned element excluding superstructure beams. This category includes category B1.
• B3, Prestressed Straight-Strand Bridge Members: Includes all precast concrete superstructure elements such as box beams, segmental components, I-girders, bulb tees, stemmed members, solid slabs, and full or partial-depth bridge deck slabs pretensioned or post-tensioned with straight strands. This category includes categories B1 and B2.
• B4, Prestressed Deflected-Strand Bridge Members: Includes the same class of products as category B3 and which are pretensioned or Post-tensioned with deflected strands. This category includes categories B1, B2 and B3

Designations for this Group are BA1, BA2, BA3 and BA4. The category descriptions are identical except that the manufacturer will have demonstrated the capability to apply architectural treatments in accordance with the provisions of CSA Standard A23.4. Each BA category includes the preceding BA category(ies) and supersedes the equivalent B category.

7.2.3
Group C, Commercial (Structural) Products and Group CA, Commercial (Structural) Products with Architectural Finishes: Group C and Group CA products are produced in accordance with the standard requirements of CSA Standard A23.4. Group CA products are produced with the additional requirements for Architectural Finishes. This Group includes structural and non-structural elements of buildings and other structures, excluding bridges.

Product Group C is divided into four categories:

• C1, Precast Concrete Products: Conventionally reinforced precast concrete elements, including piling, sheet piling, pile caps, retaining wall elements, slabs, joists, stairs, seating members, columns, spandrels, beams, walls, or other similar products.
• C2, Prestressed Hollow Core and Repetitive Products: Precast concrete products with standard shapes that are generally produced by a repetitive process that may be mechanized and pretensioned or post-tensioned with straight strands. Examples are hollow-core slabs, railroad ties and piling. This category includes category C1.
• C3, Prestressed Straight-Strand Structural Members: Precast concrete structural members pretensioned or post-tensioned with straight strand, including stemmed members, beams, columns, joists, and segmental components. This category includes categories C1 and C2.
• C4, Prestressed Deflected-Strand Structural Members: Includes the same class of products as C3 and which are pretensioned or post-tensioned with deflected strands. This category includes categories C1, C2 and C3.

Product Group CA is divided into the same four product categories as Product Group C:
Designations for this Group are CA1, CA2, CA3 and CA4. The category descriptions are identical except that the manufacturer will have demonstrated the capability to apply architectural treatments in accordance with the provisions of CSA Standard A23.4. Each CA category includes the preceding CA category(ies) and supersedes the equivalent C category.

7.2.4
Group S, Standard Products
Plain or reinforced concrete elements, without architectural finishes, not included in Product Groups A, B or C that are required to be manufactured in accordance with the applicable structural code or standard and the provisions of CSA Standard A23.4. Products in this group are often manufactured in custom built forms on demand or kept in inventory for a particular application.
